Andrey
Makhov

Andrey Makhov’s career began back in the days of the Soviet Union. He headed the kitchen of the Metropol Hotel until 1999, and then moved to the Pushkin Café that hasn’t even opened at that time. Before launching the new kitchen, the chef had to study hundreds of old recipes to adapt them for the contemporary restaurant. Makhov has trained several well-known Russian chefs. He is the author of Contemporary Kitchen Classics cookbook. Andrey has apprenticed at the restaurants in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Monaco, Belgium, England, and Italy. Thanks to Makhov, the Pushkin Café has often found itself a part of notable restaurant rankings and has received important professional awards. In 2000, the chef headed Russia’s team at the IKA/Culinary Olympics in Germany where they earned the bronze in the «Restaurant of Nations» category.
